December Decorating Tips
Christmas Light Decorating
Christmas is finally here and the brisk air of winter is upon us. Time to break out those
Christmas lights, snowmen and holiday decor to decorate your home. Most people will string
a strand of light along their rooftop to show their spirit while others go hog wild and nearly
black out a whole city with the electricity used from their lighting displays. Either way you are
showing your holiday colors with pride. This article will give you some holiday decorating
ideas that can give you a great look without breaking the piggy bank.
If you would like to go with a theme this year there is one that is sweeping the
nation...penguins and polar bears. The north pole theme seems to be the hit this year and
for some people in parts of the country that wouldn't be a hard theme to display with the
snow and ice that is already a part of your outside decor. For those of us in the south and
west we have to work a little harder at it. First you can start out with some of the decorations
you already have in the attic. Icicle lights are a inexpensive way to decorate the outside
along with the inside of your home costing only a few dollars for a long strand. They can
also be used to decorate your shrubs by draping the icicle strand through and over the top
of the shrubs. You can use twist or plastic locking ties to tie the lights to tree branches to
give it the effect that icicles are hanging from your tree. Lay a bunch of lights on your lawn
to give it the effect of snow covering your front yard, add a strand of blue lights in a circle
and now you have a small pond. Find creative places to wrap your old Christmas tree
garland around the outside of your home and try to integrate lights with them to show off
their sparkle.
Trains seem to be in also this year so if you don't want to spend a lot of money you can
make your own train out of a little wood and paint, for indoors cardboard boxes will do fine.
Paint the outsides and light them up with Christmas lights or for outside a large spotlight
works great. You can be creative when it comes to painting your train, add presents, toys,
ribbon, and use plenty of red, green, white and gold paint to color them or even foil paper
works wonders. Glue some old bows on the train and remember it is what makes you happy
that means the most.
Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we hope to see you next year
